BESST

Activated Sludge Systems BESST

The BESST biologically engineered single sludge treatment is one of WPL’s newest products brought to the market place, purposely designed for Nutrient removal allowing treatment from 100 up to 1500pe.

The system provides carbonaceous reduction, nitrification and biological nutrient removal for commercial and Water Utility applications. The system boasts a revolutionary patented process designed on further enhancements to the Modified Ludzak-Ettinger (MLE) process featuring an integrated Upflow Sludge Blanket Clarifier (USBC), enabling it to meet some of the tightest discharge consents imposed by the Environment Agency and SEPA.

Another benefit of BESST includes minimal ongoing operator involvement once the unit has been commissioned, which helps reduce ongoing operational costs. With a long sludge age and integral digester the system allows for the reduction of associated disposal and treatment costs. The BESST can be installed above or below ground level as per customer requirements.

In addition, Sand filters can be used to provide final effluent polishing where BOD and Suspended Solids consents are unusually stringent. Available in 4 different sizes, they are compact and cost effective, require minimal maintenance, can be installed above or below ground, and are available for hire or purchase.
