Case Studies
The Project
The Moat Farm Barns conversion is a project by Sicher Properties and consists of three large barns originating from the 1700s. Two barns have been finished and are now modern and luxurious four and five bedroom living spaces. The third barn will be converted into two living units of two and three bedrooms. All the conversions are to very high standard and cater for all the needs of modern living.
The Problem
The location of the site is off mains drainage and therefore a wastewater treatment solution had to be installed to satisfy the Environment Agency's Consent to Discharge. To prevent neighbourly disputes at a later stage, Sicher Properties decided that each barn conversion would have it's own treatment plant. The company was seeking a compact wastewater treatment plant which was easy to maintain, would have a low visual impact and be cost effective.
The Solution
The chosen product was the WPL Diamond, a compact sewage treatment plant which is simple to install, odourless, easy to maintain and cost efficient. The plant ensures discreet water treatment for complete peace of mind. The Diamond is CE marked and type tested in accordance to EN 12566-3 2005, the new standard covering wastewater treatment plants, making it fully compliant with UK Building Regulations.
The Diamond offers various benefits to Sicher Properties and is now used on all their projects. Sicher Properties Director, Robert J. Notley pointed out that the Diamond not only has many benefits as a product but that its installation is also easier than others. Due to its conical shape a minimum of backfill material is needed depending on the conditions and it is also a lot cheaper to create the excavation Therefore the cost for the installation is lower, you can use smaller plant to dig the hole and it costs less to get the soil removed. Additionally the three to five year desludging intervals and the robust nature of the Diamond ensures low ongoing costs. Mr Notley commented: “I am confident about the product and never had any problems with it.”
