The RADS

The RADS (Robust Aerobic Digestion System) is a highly effective aerobic sludge treatment system, which incorporates the unique principles of WPL’s successful Diamond sewage treatment plant. It is a highly efficient and cost effective solution to consider in all sludge strategy decisions and follows the ‘Best Available Technique” under the IPPC directive. It has been proven to extend de-sludge intervals by up to four times when compared to conventional sludge holding tanks.

RADS technology can be used to treat biodegradable wastes from both Commercial and Industrial sources. The system is able to treat high strength wastes at relatively high mixed liquors, producing a marked reduction in BOD, COD and TSS values. The effluent produced by the unit is then able to be discharged direct to drain within trade effluent consents, and significantly reduce MOGDEN charges levied by Water companies on Industrial waste producers. The unit comes with a NO internal moving parts and the addition of WPL’s unique floating scum removal technology means the unit requires minimum operator maintenance, and is not susceptible to clogging or fouling. The shape and internal configuration of the unit ensures complete tank mixing and optimum treatment.

WPL can offer a complete treatment solution for industrial waste producers, comprising of bespoke plant to meet the tightest of Environment Agency specifications.

Benefits

  • Increased desludge intervals without placing significant biological/hydraulic load on the the plant.
  • Up to four times extended desludge intervals.
  • Uses reliable side channel blowers requiring minimal maintenance.
  • Up to 1500 p.e on municipal applications depending on flows and loads.
  • Can be used as a stand alone sludge storage unit, or as an addition to existing plant, for the treatment of both municipal and industrial waste.
  • No internal moving parts, reducing the need for operator maintenance.
  • Highly flexible-options for below ground tanks for low visual impact, or above ground tanks for ease of movement and reduced installation costs.
  • No odours - sludge is stored without septicity.
  • Scum skimmer option – reduces maintenance requirements.
  • Fully modular – can be added to as flows or loads increase
