WPL Service team repairs MicroScreen on-site
March 2009

The WPL service team were asked to carry out an onsite repair to an old ex hire large 10BMF10 microscreen. This required new cloth and both the drum seals to be replaced.
The task in itself was a relatively straight forward process for WPL trained personnel; however in this instance the microscreen was located on a site where access was restricted and the ground was sloping away from the microscreen, causing problems with positioning of a suitably sized gantry to enable removal of the drum safely.
To complete the repair, WPL service engineers utilised a rough terrain telehandler forklift and a fabricated lifting frame. The associated pipe work, guide rails and bearings were removed and the drum was secured with lifting straps. The telehandler was then brought in to perform the lifting function. Once the drum was safely removed, the repairs were undertaken, the drum was then replaced and a new filtration cloth was fitted.
The end result, through careful planning and preparation, ensured the microscreen was up and running with the minimum of disruption to the filtration process and in the quickest time possible.
